This journal is an open place for intellectual and philosophical discussion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I do expect commenters to be respectful of everyone.

Topics include, but are not limited to: American politics, religion, literature, mathematics, and the idiosyncrasies of twenty-first century life. I am left of center, Catholic (though catholic first), and prone to puns.

My favorite genre of fiction is fantasy (the kind with witches and wizards and parallel universes, not the kind where the government of California is actually functional--that's just wishful thinking). I geek out over math and Harry Potter. And U.S. tax policy. Really. Intellectually, economics and the poetry of T.S. Eliot excite me most. And as to age, I'm young enough to still want to know everything.
